Head to the nearest Embassy or Consulate as soon as possible if you are traveling in another country and your passport is lost or stolen. Many times these agencies can issue a replacement in as little as 24 hours, letting you get back to enjoying your vacation quickly and easily.

When using and traveling public computers, never type in sensitive password or banking information. There may be malware that takes your information.

Choosing an aisle seat is a good idea. This seating choice allows you easy access to the lavatories, overhead baggage and flight attendants, and gives you more leg room.

Take time each day to alleviate stress while traveling or vacationing and you will thank yourself for it when you get back home. With all the chaos, jet-lag, partying and other excitement of travel comes a whole lot of stress on your mind and body. By the time most vacations are over, another one is needed to recover so taking a few minutes each day to rejuvenate will make it easier for you to resume your normal life when it's all over.

As an important safety measure before leaving on a trip one should always tell a close friend or family member when they plan on returning and any other key information about the trip. By doing this one is guaranteeing that someone will know something is wrong when nobody shows up on the expected date.

It can be beneficial when traveling to put together a large group of friends and family to travel with. In a large group, one will be less vunerable to criminals targeting lone tourists who look like ‘easy pickings.' You will also have the added bonus of sharing your trip with the ones you are close to.

Learn to take it easy. You do not have to follow a strict schedule when you are traveling. If you feel like you must schedule out your vacation, at least pen in a little “nothing” time, where you are free to follow up on anything that has interested you, or just lay by the pool with a drink.

When you are traveling, you can do a few things to save money at home. First, of all, turn the air conditioner off or just down. Next, turn off the sprinklers. It will also help to put your lights on timers. Not least, unplug your major appliances, though and last.

Before leaving home, if you are a heavy reader it may be useful for you to purchase an e-reader. E-readers are small and lightweight but can hold hundreds or even thousands of books. If you download many books before your trip you will never find yourself with nothing to read on your travel downtime.

If you're a novice flyer and you find yourself about to board an airplane, bring some gum and a music player. When the plane is taking off and landing, slip your headphones on and chew some gum. The music will keep you calm and relaxed while the gum will prevent your ears from popping.

When traveling with a baby, bring a whole bunch of extra large ziplock bags with you. You never know when your little one will have a blow out and it is nice to put it into something that will keep it locked away from anything else. Plus you do not want to put wet clothes in with everything else.

To get the most relaxation while you travel, make sure to bring things to do in your down time. People often think that a vacation means they will be on the go the entire time. In reality, there is time to unwind at night, waiting in lines, and during travel time. Bring a book you have been dying to see and read how much you can accomplish.

If at all possible, when traveling abroad, try to get some of that country's currency before you even get on the plane. That way, you have one less thing to worry about when you arrive and will prevent you from having to take out large amounts of money at the airport.

Make sure to crunch numbers when getting ready to invest in a car rental. Even if the trip is a tad bit less than a week, the weekly rate can still be incredibly low. So, it is suggested that you go ahead and rent the car using that rate and then turn it in early.

Try using a six-pack cooler as a carry-on toiletry bag if the place that you are traveling to is a warmer climate. This is a great way to pack cool drinks for your trip and it makes a great “fridge” for all of your toiletries to stay nice and cool in.

A great travel tip is to always bring printed directions with you whenever you go on a road trip. GPS devices are great, but they can sometimes go haywire. They might lead you down the wrong road or tell you to take the wrong turn. By consulting your printed directions, you can avoid this.

No matter where you're planning on traveling to, you need some great tips to use once you get there. You just never know what kind of troubles you'll encounter on the drive, on the plane, at the hotel, or at any other stop along your journey. Use the tips above to help you out when traveling.
