Its land area, which is slightly larger than that of Arizona, measures 300,000 square kilometers (115,830 square miles), and its coastline is 36,289 kilometers (22,550 miles).

The primary financial district is Makati City.

The population of the Philippines has over tripled from 1948, ranges from 19 million up to an official estimation of 81.16 million in year 2000. The country is split into 3 groups of island: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, well-known together as Luzviminda. These Three groups are further more subdivided into Sixteen regions. The National Census of 2000 lists 61 chartered cities as well as 73 provinces throughout the Philippines, having the most inhabited regions within Luzon. There are 4 out of 10 people in the Philippines resides in the National Capital Region and also the adjoining regions of Central Luzon as well as Southern Tagalog.
