The Municipal Hymn of Pototan, Iloilo

 

Hymn of Pototan – Pototan is a 1st class municipality situated in the province of Iloilo, Philippines. The town is considered as the rice granary of Panay.

Hymn of Pototan – It is bordered by the town of Dingle to the north, Zarraga towards the south, Dumangas as well as Barotac Nuevo towards the east, and to the west bordered by Mina, Badiangan, and New Lucena. Based on the 2010 census, it has a population of 70,955 people.

The Official Municipal Hymn of Pototan was composed and sung by Mariano Peñafiel. It was first sung publicly last Oct. 13, 2010 during the Teresa Magbanua Day celebration.

  • Rice Wine
  • Aripahol
  • Suman and Calamay Hati
  • Tsokolate
  • Bolos/Scythes
  • Taho

The town sits on the banks of the Suage River, 30 km away from the City of Iloilo. It's a big town made up of 50 barangays. It has an area of 94 km² and 85% is agricultural land. In December 1997, the town was declared as the “Christmas Capital of Western Visayas” for its famous “Christmas Festival of Lights”.
