This is NOT only on Tilapia, but all the fish we consume. They are ALL (well, over 98% – according to studies) farmmed. The ones that are growing in the wild are so expensive (tripples the price of the farmmed ones.

Regarding veg and fruits this “phenomenon” does happen as well. We’ve been continually reminded of the benefits of organically grown veg and fruits, but again low-income people CAN’T virtually afford of such high prices.

People are now finding ways to grow and raise their own food supplies. Even people living in big cities (such as me) are turning their balconies and/or terraces of their apartments, flats… to grow veg. Some are renting a piece of land, others had moved to smaller towns and villages for the purpose of raising their own farm animals, till a small piece of land for their orchard… All this implies money and more tricky. The majority then choose to stay in big cities and find it even “cheaper” and “more comfortable” even if they have to pay the price of living an unhealthy life.
